One of 7 Sandals resorts in Jamaica, the secluded adult-only all-inclusive Sandals South Coast is in Whitehouse, surrounded by a nature preserve. One of the top-rated Sandals resorts, it is a peaceful, romantic haven with overwater bungalows, an overwater bar, and an overwater wedding chapel. This makes it especially popular with honeymooners and couples planning a destination wedding.
It’s also one of the most affordable Sandals resorts, all the rooms are oceanview, the water is perfect for watersports, and it has a pristine 2-mile white-sand beach.
Because of the location, the drive from the airport takes about an hour and a half. The roads are twisty and rough, so take medication if you get motionsick. But like all Sandals resorts, airport transfers are included.
Accommodations
There is a variety of rooms here and many of them have been renovated, including the iconic overwater bungalows.
On our visit we were in a renovated Longbeach Beachfront One Bedroom Butler Suite. It was great, with plenty of room, an oversized soaking tub on the balcony, and fantastic views. We loved the 24-hour room service and personal butler service.
Other popular options are the new swim-up suites and beachfront walkout butler suites, which are right by the beach. The nicest suites here are the unique round Rondoval villas, which have both private pools and swim-up access to a lagoon pool, and the overwater bungalows.
These have recently been refreshed and are set over the Caribbean, with large sundecks featuring water access, loungers, hammocks, and Tranquility Soaking Tubs for two.
Food and Drink
Sandals South Coast has 9 restaurants and two food trucks. There’s a range of cuisine types including sushi, seafood, Mediterranean, Caribbean, Asian, Mexican, Italian, and international.
There are 7 bars including swim-up bar, the overwater bar, and a martini bar.
Of course, like all Sandals resorts all of your food and drink is unlimited and included.
Activities
Because of the calm water at Sandals South Coast, it offers motorized as well as nonmotorized watersports. You can enjoy complimentary scuba diving, snorkeling, paddleboarding, kayaking, Hobie Cat sailing, windsurfing, tubing, wakeboarding, and waterskiing.
On land, enjoy day and night tennis, pickleball, basketball, beach volleyball, pool tables, table tennis, squash, bocce ball, and a fitness center.
There are also spa services available for an extra cost, and you can book offsite excursions, for an extra cost. We recommend going to YS Falls.
Beach and Pools
Sandals South Coast has one of the best beaches at any Sandals resort. It is private and stretches for two miles along beautiful calm, clear, turquoise water. You won’t have any trouble finding lounge chairs or a peaceful spot.
We love the pools here as well, which range from a lively main pool with a swim-up bar to the lagoon pools and some smaller options.
